Move It Addon Will Add Movement to Your Day

Even though I stand over half of my day, it turns out I just don’t move as much as I thought I did. So, I’ve been trying to get a few more steps in on my Fitbit by adding in some movement.

A new extension I added to my Chromebook is MoveIt – 7 Minute Exercise & Brain Break Generator by PEGeek. The intention is to get you moving when you have been on your device for a designated amount of time. You can set the reminder from 5 seconds to 55 minutes. I currently have mine set for every 3o minutes which I find to be a good amount of time. The activities vary from jumping as high as you can, 30 seconds of crunchies/situps, march around the room, spin in a circle to the left three times and right three times, rub your entire right arm with your left hand, and other crazy things that get you out of your seat or just moving in some way.

The original purpose of the app was for classroom teachers to get their kids moving. So, I started by using this in my classroom and found that the  students are appreciating the movement. It turns out I appreciate it too. It gets us laughing, moving, and refocusing quickly at the next agenda item.

Move It would be a great addon if you currently work a desk job or from home. It’s the perfect thing to remind you to get up out of your chair.  This extension for your PC also comes in an app Apple users can download in iTunes.  If you spend a lot of time on your phone, it would remind you to take a break from the device. Try Move It. Maybe you’ll find yourself doing ten jumping jacks as you’re reading my next blog post.
